Between 1999 and 2000, we designed, constructed and established two large glass domes for the luxury hotel RITZ CARLTON HOTEL in Budapest (HU).
There is a large glass dome (diameter approx. 9.50 m) crowning restaurant and lobby, as well as a smaller one over the main stairwell (diameter approx. 4.60 m). In this project, we offered "all in one hand" - design, drafts, planning, construction and assembly of the glass elements, steel construction, installation of the domes. The smaller dome is positioned directly under the concrete ceiling. As daylight is missing, the dome is lighted from backside and built in non translucent opalescent glass. The large dome is constructed with transparent glass, to have as much light as possible entering. From the upper atrium yard you can catch a glance on the dome. In the centre of the dome there is installed a 500 kg chandelier.
